Is Weightlifting and Strength Training only for MEN??

In general, many women think lifting weights will make them bulk up leading them to lose their feminine look.  It’s a myth and NO, you won’t gain the kind of bulk a man would.

Main reason being the male hormone called testosterone which is a muscle building hormone and women cannot build muscles like men because they do not have enough of it.

The truth is weightlifting is for everybody, we all need muscles to make our day-to-day activities easier

The women athletes you may have seen, who have developed more muscles, have undergone many special training sessions with heavy weights and years of practice. Also, they have higher testosterone levels than a normal person.

At best, strength training will make a woman gain some lean mass and reduce extra body fat.

Benefits of Weightlifting

  • Improved strength and endurance
  • Reduces extra body fat
  • Improved heart health
  • Tones the body
  • Improves posture
  • Strengthens bones and joints
  • Reduces the risk of Arthritis
  • Enhances sleep quality
  • Increased Metabolic rate and boosts energy levels
  • Reduce stress and improves the mood
  • Helps you look younger and fights aging

Another important fact you need to keep in mind, that if you are a beginner, Strength training exercises must be done under the guidance of a qualified personal trainer.

Most often strength training is 3-5 days a week and can be varied based on client fitness levels and goals. Rest days and Cardio sessions are equally important for recovery and cardiovascular health.

Hard work, good nutrition, adequate rest and patience is all you need to achieve good results.

Weight training is not just a training method. It’s a lifestyle
